Never change, Tony Khan…<\/p>\n

The AEW President took a friendly jab at one of the more complicated and controversial WWE stories of the year this afternoon, responding to a Tweet from CM Punk. The Straight-Edge Superstar had tagged Khan when warning the wrestling world that “no one is safe” during his WWE Backstage debut on FS1 this Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

Khan replied, “No one is safe? Sounds like a plane full of wrestlers in Saudi Arabia!”<\/p>\n

The social media world has, as you can imagine, lost their collective minds – and that’s about the time when WWE veteran Randy Orton chose to get involved.<\/p>\n

Orton, who had made several hints about a possible jump to AEW leading up to signing a new long-term deal with WWE earlier this month, called out Khan for “throwing stones in a glass house”, sharing a link to a year-old Sportsnaut article about Tony’s billionaire father Shahid Khan being investigated.<\/p>\n

Khan quickly refuted the article in question, calling the claims against his father “baseless”. He also called out Orton for using AEW to leverage a better deal out of WWE, and brought up a recent incident where “The Viper” dropped a racial slur while streaming video games on Twitch.<\/p>\n

Never a dull moment in the wrestling business… Can you imagine what it would have looked like if Vince McMahon and Eric Bischoff had Twitter during the Monday Night Wars?<\/p>\n

I thought you only tagged me in your posts when you were grasping for leverage. That article\u2019s over a year old + is about baseless claims made about my dad years ago. That\u2019s the best you can do, nothing. Meanwhile in the time since that was written, you used the N word on twitch.<\/p>\n
