As we noted last year, Ford Motor Company sued WWE star John Cena for what they claim was a violation of his contract when Cena flipped a GT after owning the vehicle for just one month.<\/p>\n

Ford claimed the terms of the contract stated that the intent of the vehicle’s sale, to a carefully selected buyer, was not for the buyer to turn around and re-sell the vehicle. Ford was seeking $75,000 from Cena, plus the ability to purchase the car back from the WWE star, and claim any profits Cena netted off the re-sale of the vehicle. A February report noted that back in\u00a0November of 2017,\u00a0Ford Motor Company sued\u00a0Cena to the tune of $500,000, for the sale of the 2017 Ford GT.<\/p>\n

We also noted back in February that\u00a0Cena requested a Michigan judge throw out the case against him, as he claims he did nothing wrong when he sold the\u00a0super rare \u201climited edition\u201d Ford GT supercar \u2014 647 horsepower, 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine for $500,000. Cena furthered that he was unaware of any terms of the purchasing deal prohibiting him from making the sale.<\/p>\n

Autoblog is now reporting that the case has been settled out of court,\u00a0and Cena’s legal representatives say Ford will donate the undisclosed amount of money to charity. Furthermore, Cena issued the following statement on the matter:<\/p>\n

“I love the Ford GT and apologize to Ford, and encourage others who own the car to respect the contract. […] I am pleased we could resolve this matter outside of court, and that a worthy charity will benefit from one of the most iconic cars in the world.”<\/p>\n
