ULSTER DIRECTOR OF Rugby Les Kiss says he\u2019s not sure how bad Marcell Coetzee\u2019s knee injury is, but has allayed concerns that the Springbok back-row has suffered a recurrence of the injury that kept him out for nine months.<\/p>\n

Speaking after Ulster\u2019s fantastic 68-21 victory over Zebre at the Kingspan Stadium, which lifts the Ulstermen back into the top four of the Guinness PRO12, Kiss said they\u2019re concerned about Coetzee\u2019s injury.<\/p>\n

The number eight had to be helped off the pitch by medics in the 18th minute after having his knee treated on three separate occasions, leading to worries that he might have hurt the same ligament that delayed his Ulster debut until February.<\/p>\n

But Kiss was quick to deny that Coetzee had injured the same knee again, although admitted he isn\u2019t aware of how long the influential back-row will now be out for.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not fully clear, there\u2019s a bit of concern about the knee,\u201d Kiss said after the game. \u201cThe medics have said to let it settle and see how it is\u00a0on Monday\u00a0after the scan.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s the other (knee). I went to see him after the game but didn\u2019t ask the question, I just shook his hand. I\u2019ll do it this week with the team and get the report. We\u2019ll see how it is, touch wood it\u2019s all good.<\/p>\n

The Australian coach also gave an update on winger Tommy Bowe, who had to be carted off the pitch in Ireland\u2019s defeat to Wales\u00a0on Friday\u00a0night, revealing the 33-year old will be seeing a surgeon this week for a diagnosis.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s going to see the surgeon\u00a0on Monday\u00a0to see about a possible fracture,\u201d Kiss explained about Bowe. \u201cWe\u2019ll get more clarity on him and Marcell\u00a0on Monday. It doesn\u2019t look good (for Tommy) but we don\u2019t know the full extent.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve been advised by the medics not to look too much into it until we get the proper scan and prognosis of what needs done. Hopefully it\u2019s short term.\u201d<\/p>\n
