The 24-year-old spent two nights in hospital after being hit in the ribs during Saturday\u2019s clash, which the Raiders won 56-16.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was right next to him and I didn\u2019t notice it a bit,\u201d Raiders back-row forward Sia Soliola said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI knew he was down for a bit at one stage early on in the match, but he showed no signs from what I saw.\u201d<\/p>\n
Williams, who even scored a try in the 76th minute, complained to the doctor only after the match, according to Soliola.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s tough as it is for a half to actually organise us big fellas around, and to know that he was carrying that throughout the match, it\u2019s definitely given us new respect for Sam,\u201d said Soliola.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s one tough bugger.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt takes some courage to put yourself and your health aside for the greater good of the team,\u201d he added. \u201cFor me, that\u2019s everything.\u201d<\/p>\n
Williams will resume training next week and although a timeframe for his return to match action has not been set, he is not expected to be out long term.<\/p>\n
