{"id":13990,"date":"2023-11-11T08:14:07","date_gmt":"2023-11-11T08:14:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/onhee.com\/?p=13990"},"modified":"2023-11-11T08:14:07","modified_gmt":"2023-11-11T08:14:07","slug":"nyc-is-only-600-jobs-from-full-covid-recovery-study","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/onhee.com\/?p=13990","title":{"rendered":"NYC Is Only 600 Jobs From Full COVID Recovery: Study"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NEW YORK CITY \u2014 Just 600 jobs stand between New York City and a full recovery from the coronavirus pandemic, a new study found.<\/p>\n<p>The city&#8217;s job market showed healthy signs of growth in June, according to an economic snapshot released Thursday by the New York City Economic Development Corporation.<\/p>\n<p>Private sector jobs grew by 16,600 last month, putting the city just a relative handful away from pre-COVID levels, the study found. <\/p>\n<section class=\"styles_SubscribeForm__0dj5n\">\n<h2 class=\"styles_SubscribeForm__title__F_olP\">Interested in local real estate?Subscribe to Patch&#x27;s new newsletter to be the first to know about open houses, new listings and more.<\/h2>\n<p>Andrew Kimball, the corporation&#8217;s president and CEO, also highlighted that one in seven businesses in the city started in the past year, though he added a significant caveat in the snapshot&#8217;s introduction.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Despite this overall positive backdrop, it would be remiss of me not to mention that the city\u2019s economy faces headwinds,&#8221; he wrote. &#8220;We continue to monitor office vacancy and acknowledge that a higher interest rate environment has negatively impacted venture capital funding.&#8221;<\/p>\n<section class=\"styles_SubscribeForm__0dj5n\">\n<h2 class=\"styles_SubscribeForm__title__F_olP\">Interested in local real estate?Subscribe to Patch&#x27;s new newsletter to be the first to know about open houses, new listings and more.<\/h2>\n<p>But, still, the snapshot is only the latest sign that the city is putting the coronavirus pandemic in the rearview mirror.<\/p>\n<p>New Yorkers riding the subway may have noticed very few masks in recent months, crowds gather worry-free in public places and the once-daily drumbeat of COVID-19 statistics has stopped. <\/p>\n<p>Speaking of those statistics, the city is averaging roughly 363 daily cases of COVID-19 and zero deaths from the virus, according to the latest data.<\/p>\n<p>The economic snapshot found other encouraging signs that New Yorkers are returning to their daily lives.<\/p>\n<p>Labor force participation in the city hit an all-time high of 62.6 percent in June, the study found.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;More New Yorkers are joining or rejoining the labor force, and more are finding jobs, which suggests the labor market continues to heal,&#8221; the study states.<\/p>\n<p class=\"styles_HTMLContent__LDG2k SubscribeCTABlurb_SubscribeCTABlurb__M_Azu\">\n<hr\/>\n<p>Get more local news delivered straight to your inbox.<!-- --> Sign up for free Patch newsletters and alerts.<\/p>\n<p>Click Here: <a href='https:\/\/www.jerstores.com\/Teams\/Teams-NRL-Telstra-Premiership\/Teams-Bulldogs' title='canterbury-bankstown bulldogs rugby store'>canterbury-bankstown bulldogs rugby store<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NEW YORK CITY \u2014 Just 600 jobs stand between New York City and a full recovery from the coronavirus pandemic, a new study found.
