Los Lobos gained fame in 1987 when they recorded a hit cover of Ritchie Valens\u2019 La Bamba, featured in the similarly named biopic about the late singer, who, in 1959, died in a plane crash with Buddy Holly and J.P. \u201cThe Big Bopper\u201d Richardson.<\/p>\n
The multi-faceted band blends rock, soul, punk, blues and Tex Mex along with traditional Mexican folk music. The band has won four Grammys and was nominated in 2016 for the Rock \u2018n Roll Hall of Fame (they didn\u2019t make it). Los Lobos\u2019 most recent album \u201cNative Sons,\u201d released in 2021, has also drawn critical acclaim.<\/p>\n
