ROYAL OAK, MI \u2014 The Bandit Tavern and Hideaway in downtown Royal Oak has permanently closed down after only eight months of business.<\/p>\n
“Dear Friends, we have officially closed our doors,” restaurant officials said on social media Monday. “Thank you for letting us be part of the Royal Oak community. We\u2019ll miss you!”<\/p>\n
Mission Restaurant Group President David Ritchie said “current market conditions have forced us to focus our attention and resources in other areas.”<\/p>\n “We are proud to have served the Royal Oak community for two decades, employed thousands of people, introduced 11 unique restaurant concepts, and made lifelong friends,” Ritchie added. ” We are working with staff to place as many people as possible at other locations within our group. We sincerely appreciate the support we received over the years and will miss operating in Royal Oak.”<\/p>\n The restaurant was located at Fifth Avenue and Main Street, the same site where the Jolly Pumpkin restaurant lasted for more than six years.<\/p>\n The upstairs was a bar and restaurant that featured a menu a skillet cornbread with sweet honey butter and jalape\u00f1o jelly, Andre\u2019s hot chicken sandwich, shrimp and grits, succotash, mac and cheese with pig candy, mini beignets, and more.<\/p>\n The basement was used often for holiday themed pop-ups like the “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” cocktail bar.<\/p>\n The popular site has seen a revolving door of restaurants and bars over the years, including the Bastone Brewery, Vinotecca Wine Bar, Cafe Habana, Monk Belgian Beer Alley, Gogi Seoul Kitchen, Cinq, Commune Lounge Craft and Jolly Pumpkin.<\/p>\n \n Get more local news delivered straight to your inbox.
