RARITAN, NJ \u2014 A dump truck hit a power line causing it to catch fire in Raritan on Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n
The fire was reported around 3:10 p.m. at the now-closed Agway Garden Center at 77 Thompson St. in Raritan, said Raritan Fire Chief Brian Kredatus to Patch.<\/p>\n
The dump truck hit power lines in the rear lot of the Agway causing the transformer to catch the truck on fire, said Kredatus.<\/p>\n There were no reported injuries and the driver of the truck was out by the time emergency responders arrived.<\/p>\n “There was minor extension to the Agway and detached garage nearby,” said Kredatus.<\/p>\n Firefighters were cleared from the scene around 5:15 p.m. A hazmat team is still on the scene to clean up the area.<\/p>\n The Raritan Borough Fire Department is entirely volunteer-run.
