SOUTHINGTON, CT \u2014 Local land-use officials have approved a project to build a new 55-and-up housing facility in Southington.<\/p>\n
In three separate 6-0 votes on Dec. 3, the Southington Planning and Zoning Commission said “yes” to measures allowing Holyst Real Estate LLC to build 23 units of age-restricted housing on Lazy Lane.<\/p>\n
One vote was to approve a zone change that allows for a lot on 65 Triano Drive to serve as an access strip to the property, which is actually at 322 Lazy Lane.<\/p>\n The other two votes were for special permits and site plan reviews for building the new housing units, something seen as being necessary in Southington’s plan of conservation and development.<\/p>\n According to presentations at the Dec. 3 meeting by applicant representatives, the development is on 13 acres off Lazy Lane, with the “access strip” on 0.93 acres off Triano Drive.<\/p>\n “The development will have single driveway entry that loops around, minimal lighting, signage, and recreational space,” said engineer Steve Giudice of Plantsville-based Cole Civil + Survey.<\/p>\n “There will be additional street trees and landscaping at the units and throughout the development.”<\/p>\nFind out what's happening in Southingtonwith free, real-time updates from Patch.<\/h2>\n
