Phil Jones says he will not \u201close sleep about what people say about me\u201d after seeing some question Manchester United\u2019s decision to hand him a new contract.<\/p>\n

Having returned to favour since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took the reins at Old Trafford, the England international has seen his efforts rewarded with fresh terms.<\/p>\n

He has committed to a deal through to at least 2023, with that agreement including a possible 12-month extension.<\/p>\n

If he sees that contract through, then Jones will pass 10 years of loyal service with the Red Devils.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old is aware that some critics would have preferred to see him moved on as a free agent this summer but claims to have learned to turn a deaf ear to his detractors.<\/p>\n

Jones, who has taken in 17 outings for United this season, said: \u201cI don\u2019t lose sleep about what people say about me. It\u2019s football.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to get criticism in the future, I\u2019ve had criticism in the past.<\/p>\n

\u201cHonestly, I genuinely don\u2019t care. I have a wonderful family and wonderful friends. I play football for Man United, I\u2019ve been given an extra contract and I\u2019m grateful for that.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Jones has been with United since being snapped up from Blackburn by Sir Alex Ferguson in 2011.<\/p>\n

As he takes in an eighth season at Old Trafford, he has already passed the 200-appearance mark for the Red Devils.<\/p>\n

He hopes there will be many more to come.<\/p>\n

His position has been called into question on a regular basis, with United continuing to be heavily linked with reinforcements at centre-half, but Jones is ready to embrace any further competition.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cSince I\u2019ve come to this club we\u2019ve signed players left, right and centre: forwards, defenders, goalkeepers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re Man United, of course, we\u2019re going to be interested in the best players in the world, I\u2019d be pretty amazed if we weren\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n

Those currently on the books at Old Trafford have helped to turn a faltering 2018-19 campaign around under the guidance of Solskjaer.<\/p>\n
