{"id":2251,"date":"2019-02-28T10:27:39","date_gmt":"2019-02-28T10:27:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.incirliseviye.com\/2019\/02\/28\/theyre-not-a-team-chelsea-wont-win-trophies-says-sutton-2\/"},"modified":"2019-02-28T10:27:39","modified_gmt":"2019-02-28T10:27:39","slug":"theyre-not-a-team-chelsea-wont-win-trophies-says-sutton-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/onhee.com\/?p=2251","title":{"rendered":"&#039;They&#039;re not a team&#039; &#8211; Chelsea won&#039;t win trophies, says Sutton"},"content":{"rendered":"<div> The Stamford Bridge club and manager Maurizio Sarri are in turmoil following the Kepa Arrizabalaga controversy says their former striker <\/div>\n<div>   <\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Chelsea&#8217;s stars won&#8217;t win trophies because &#8220;they aren&#8217;t a team&#8221;, says Chris Sutton.<\/p>\n<p>The former Stamford Bridge striker has lambasted the club&#8217;s players in the aftermath of the Kepa Arrizabalaga Carabao Cup final controversy and said they have made manager Maurizio Sarri look &#8220;weak&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>He called Kepa a \u201cdisgrace\u201d after he refused to be substituted late in extra-time against Manchester City at Wembley on Sunday.<\/p>\n<div>  <span>Article continues below<\/span> <\/div>\n<div>\n<h3>Editors&#039; Picks<\/h3>\n<p>    Sarri vindicated for dropping Kepa as Chelsea &amp; Pedro impress in Spurs win    Magnificent Mane takes centre stage as league leaders Liverpool put on a five-star show    Lukaku sends reminder that his Man Utd career is far from over    Man City monitoring Barcelona &amp; Chelsea target Jovic    <\/p><\/div>\n<div> <\/div>\n<div>   <\/div>\n<p>The goalkeeper has been fined for his actions in defying his manager but the incident has left renewed questions over Sarri&#8217;s future.<\/p>\n<p>Sutton believes the players should have backed their boss &#8211; and that their failure to do so during the incident, when no player intervened to usher Kepa off the pitch, shows they have not got what it takes to succeed.<\/p>\n<p>Chelsea lost the final in a\u00a0penalty shootout and have slipped out of the top four of the Premier League.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They aren&#8217;t a team,&#8221; Sutton told <em>BBC Five Live<\/em>. &#8220;In those seconds and minutes, that told us everything we need to know that this group of Chelsea players won&#8217;t be able to challenge for a Premier League and Champions League in the near future.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was mutiny, it was anarchy, Chelsea were lawless. The manager looks so weak. Something has got to give.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ex-Chelsea midfielder Vinnie Jones was also unimpressed with Kepa&#8217;s behaviour, telling <em>Talksport<\/em>:\u00a0\u201cIn my day, if I was the captain, I would have gone over to him and said: \u2018Get your backside off! If the manager wants you off, you\u2019re off, mate!\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut no one seemed to do that. With the old Chelsea boys when I was there, Wisey (Dennis Wise) would have probably grabbed him by the top of the socks, but I would have got him by the scruff of the neck and dragged him off.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But he also believes Chelsea should move on from the incident, adding:\u00a0\u201cThe guy came for \u00a371m, they\u2019re not going to go too nuts on him, are they?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019ve got to have him in the next game, it\u2019s an important game against Tottenham so I think Sarri has taken a bit of a sidestep to try and save face.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has branded the situation at Chelsea as &#8220;embarrassing&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s a certain sadness with what&#8217;s happening,&#8221; Wright said.\u00a0&#8220;Something has to happen.
