Cedric Soares hopes his big-match experience from the Euro 2016 final will serve him well when Southampton face Manchester United with the EFL Cup trophy on the line.<\/p>\n

Defender Cedric played when Portugal caused a major shock against France in the final of\u00a0last year’s international tournament and now hopes to experience similar emotions against United.<\/p>\n

“Playing in the Euro 2016 final was very important for me and my career,” he told Southampton’s website.<\/p>\n

“It is a game that I will always remember. These kind of games make you stronger as a player, make you more prepared for matches where the pressure is so high.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“It is amazing. To be playing these kind of matches in the space of a year, two finals, it is great.”<\/p>\n

Cedric wants Southampton to make the most of their status as underdogs at Wembley.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old added: “Of course, we have a little less responsibility for the game than Manchester United.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“They are a very big name in football. Everybody knows about them.\u00a0They have great players and a great squad, with a great coach.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“But we must prepare for the game and believe in what we do. We have players who can make a difference.<\/p>\n
