Everyone in the world would want to take up Sundar Pichai’s job as CEO for Google. Wouldn’t you? It’s one of the most high paying jobs<\/strong> in the world, in case you didn’t know.<\/p>\n

What’s odd is that someone created a fake job vacancy for this very position on popular business-networking social media platform, LinkedIn. And people actually fell for it (feeling overly optimistic) and applied for the job too. But how and why?<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Well for starters, the Sundar Pichai<\/strong> Google CEO job posting happened due to a security bug (which was also admitted by LinkedIn). This bug let users post an official-looking job opening on nearly any firm’s LinkedIn page. The bug was revealed by Dutch recruiter Michel Rijnders.<\/p>\n

This is what he said to a post in LinkedIn: “Everyone that pays a small amount of money can post a job on LinkedIn. It’s easy. You fill in a few details, like the employer. And that’s where the problem is.” He further adds, “Everyone can post jobs that are assigned to any employer of their choosing. For example, I can post a job at LinkedIn.”<\/p>\n

Moreover, even though the app recommends to send applications to LinkedIn, users can set-up a custom link to receive the applications — just like the Google<\/strong> CEO’s job. <\/p>\n

Get Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s job?<\/h2>\n

He later showed this by creating a fake job opportunity for LinkedIn’s CEO, just like Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai. What’s worse, for a few bucks he could even promote the job to widen the reach. But the fake job isn’t the only problem.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

As mentioned by Michel in the post, Such fake jobs literally have the ability to shake the stock market and the stock standing of a particular brand. A news piece that says that a company is on a lookout for changing its CEO can cause irreversible damage to the brand as well as its finances. <\/p>\n

LinkedIn has acknowledged the bug and responded to the post “Thank you Michel Rijnders for bringing this to our attention,” LinkedIn responded.<\/p>\n

“We’ve removed the posting and we’re resolving the issue that allowed this post to go live. LinkedIn is a place for real people to have real conversations about their careers. It’s not a place for fake jobs-we are committed to stopping fraudulent jobs from ever reaching our members through automated technology and the help of our members reporting any suspicious job postings.”<\/p>\n

So it looks like Sundar Pichai<\/strong> and Jeff Weiner are happy with their jobs and there aren’t any vacancies to replace them anytime soon!<\/p>\n
