Edinson Cavani’s injury is a worry for Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez after the striker played a starring role in his side’s victory over Portugal at the World Cup.<\/p>\n
Cavani hit both goals in a 2-1 win that ensured Cristiano Ronaldo followed Argentina’s Lionel Messi in exiting the tournament at the last-16 stage .<\/p>\n
The Paris Saint-Germain striker, however, then limped out of the action\u00a0– with Ronaldo helping him off the pitch – and was\u00a0replaced after 74\u00a0minutes.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The player told reporters after the final whistle\u00a0he hurt his calf and Tabarez conceded he is unsure whether Cavani\u00a0will be fit to face France in Friday’s quarter-final.<\/p>\n
“He was injured. He felt pain,” Tabarez said at a news conference.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
“I don’t know exactly. I haven’t spoken to the medical team. We won’t have a lot of time for recovery.<\/p>\n
“After resting, we will see what we have to do. Right now, we’re only worried but we don\u2019t know for sure how grave the injury is.”<\/p>\n
