Tanguy Ndombele says his progress for Lyon and France this season proves that rejecting interest from Manchester City in the summer was ‘the best decision’.<\/p>\n

The Premier League champions are said to have lodged a \u00a345 million ($57m) bid to sign the Frenchman during the previous transfer window.<\/p>\n

City boss Pep Guardiola has tried and failed to acquire a number of players\u00a0to compete with current first choice holding midfielder Fernandinho in recent years, including the likes of Fred and Jorginho.<\/p>\n

Ndombele continues to be linked with a move to the Etihad but says he’s very happy with his decision to remain at Lyon this season.<\/p>\n

\u201cI could have gone, maybe things would have worked out well,” the midfielder told Canal Football Club<\/em>.<\/p>\n

“The club was firm, they didn\u2019t want me to leave. I didn\u2019t feel like leaving, and I think that today you can see that it was the best decision for me.<\/p>\n

“Things are going well, I am playing a lot of games, and I am in the French national team.<\/p>\n

“So, I think for the moment it was the best decision.\u201d<\/p>\n

The talented Frenchman starred in both of Lyon’s Champions League group matches against City this season, with the Ligue 1 side recording a memorable 2-1 victory at the Etihad in September.<\/p>\n

His good form led to a senior France debut in October and he has gone on to make four more appearances for Didier Deschamps’ side since.<\/p>\n

It seems inevitable that Ndombele\u00a0will eventually move on to a bigger club, but the 21-year-old\u00a0insists that there is no specific club that he sees himself playing for in the future.<\/p>\n

He does, however, hint that he could be open to a move to PSG.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t imagine how my career will go, I live it instead\u2026” he added.<\/p>\n

“When I was young I didn\u2019t dream of being in this or that club (like PSG), whether it is Real Madrid, Barcelona, City, I have never dreamed of being in a specific club like that.<\/p>\n

“Of course they are big clubs, I don\u2019t close the door to anyone\u2026<\/p>\n

“They (PSG) remain one of the biggest clubs in France, I am from a Paris banlieue\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
