That would be true if Ted were running for city council in New York or mayor of San Francisco, but he\u2019s not,\u201d Rick Tyler told MSNBC\u2019s Katy Tur\u00a0on Wednesday.\u00a0\u201cHe\u2019s running for the U.S. Senate in Texas. He is right in the middle. So I think he\u2019s pretty strong for the election in Texas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cruz won 85 percent of the vote in the Republican primary on Tuesday. Rep. Beto O\u2019Rourke took\u00a0more than 60 percent of the vote in the Democratic primary to challenge him in November.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday night after his GOP victory, Cruz\u00a0promptly\u00a0released a radio jingle attacking O\u2019Rourke.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you\u2019re gonna run in Texas, you can\u2019t be a liberal, man, &#8217;cause liberal thought is not the spirit of a Lone Star man,\u201d the song goes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Tyler said that Cruz is a \u201cmoderate Texan\u201d and echoed the point Cruz made on Wednesday that it\u2019s hard for Democrats to win in Texas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no doubt the extreme left, right now, is energized. They are angry; they hate the president. We\u2019re seeing that in the fundraising numbers for Democrats all across the country; we\u2019re seeing that in turnout,\u201d Cruz said on CNN Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\" xml:lang=\"en\" xml:lang=\"en\">GOP Sen.
