On Saturday, WWE made a couple of big announcements regarding this coming week’s edition of SmackDown Live.
WWE announced that John Cena vs. Alberto Del Rio is booked for singles action. The official WWE website wrote the following about the Cena-Del Rio match announcement:
“John Cena will be in action on Tuesday night, squaring off against longtime rival Alberto Del Rio. In case you don’t remember, Del Rio just so happens to be the guy who ended Cena’s historic reign as United States Champion at WWE Hell in a Cell in October 2015. To say there’s some bad blood there would be an understatement, and if Cena’s not careful he could be walking into his SummerSlam bout against AJ Styles with a broken arm.”
Additionally, in a special Miz TV segment, The Miz will be joined by SummerSlam opponents Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler, who will compete for the WWE Championship at next Sunday’s pay-per-view. Regarding the Miz TV segment with Ambrose and Ziggler, WWE wrote the following:
“In addition to that epic match, The Miz will welcome both WWE World Champion Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler onto the set of MizTV for a no-holds-barred interview. Tensions between the SummerSlam opponents have risen like mercury in a thermometer on a hot August afternoon since their title match was set. Don’t be surprised if it all boils over when The Miz starts turning up the heat.”
