As noted, the new lead voice of WWE SmackDown, Mauro Ranallo, will not be part of the broadcast team for tonight’s WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view in Orlando, Florida.
Ranallo noted via social media that he would be “Commentweeting” during the event, which essentially means he will be posting consistent updates on Twitter throughout the show.
On Saturday, the longtime color commentator for WWE, Jerry “The King” Lawler, announced that he would not be part of the Royal Rumble commentary team as well.
According to Lawler, tonight’s pay-per-view will be handled by the RAW announce team of Michael Cole, JBL and Byron Saxton, whereas most pay-per-views have been called by Cole, JBL and Lawler.
Below are Lawler and Ranallo’s tweets regarding the announce team for tonight’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view.
Not gonna be calling it…the Raw announce team will be calling the Rumble. https://t.co/fDutkpeu7J
