The big news of the day is obviously Brock Lesnar announcing on ESPN’s SportsCenter that he has signed a new contract with WWE and is officially retired from MMA. (Video Of The Announcement).
Lesnar declared, “My legacy in the Octagon is over. However, my legacy at WrestleMania this Sunday will not be my last” and told fans, “I’m going home with that damn belt!”
Triple H revealed on Twitter that Lesnar has signed a multi-year deal. It’s expected that he will continue to work a part-time schedule. Lesnar told ESPN’s Michelle Beadle that Vince McMahon made him an offer he couldn’t refuse last night at RAW from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that Lesnar’s wife Sable and other close friends did not want him to return to professional fighting.
With Brock sticking with WWE for several more years, it’s expected that he’s going to be one of the most (if not the most) over babyface this Sunday at WrestleMania. WWE has been planning a babyface turn for Lesnar since the beginning of the year and WWE is expecting a monster babyface reaction for Lesnar at WrestleMania.
