This week’s edition of WWE SmackDown Live has drawn the biggest viewership of the year for the blue brand as The New Day ran the tag team gauntlet.
The show featured New Day running a tag team gauntlet to secure Kofi Kingston’s WWE Championship match at WrestleMania 35, Kurt Angle’s final match on the blue brand, as well as an impromptu Women’s Championship match.
The show drew 2.393 million viewers, which is up from last week’s 2.208 million viewers and is actually SmackDown Live’s highest viewership of 2019. On top of that, it is actually the best viewership for several months, with the last episode to draw between being the SmackDown 1000 show back in October, which drew 2.545 million viewers.
You have to go back even further than that to get the last ‘normal’ edition of SmackDown Live which drew a better viewership, with the post-SummerSlam 2018 episode on August 21 drawing 2.437 million viewers.
This is great news for WWE, especially with WrestleMania 35 being around the corner and this week’s show having plenty of ‘Mania implications.
