WWE conducted a Q&A session with Triple H following NXT Takeover: New York. The Game is proud of the effort that the brand gave and rightfully so. For many fans, Takeover is easily the best WWE show of the year to this point.
The card featured only five matches, but every match was fought for a championship. More importantly, every match was top notch and completely unforgettable.
The War Raiders retained the NXT Tag Team Championships against Aleister Black and Ricochet in the opening contest. The match set the tone for the night and was easily a highlight of the event. But there were many more to come, as The Velveteen Dream kept his North American Championship against Matt Riddle, Shayna Baszler successfully defended her NXT Women’s Championship in a Fatal 4-Way and Walter became the new NXT UK champion when he defeated Pete Dunne.
But as great as all of those matches are, the one that truly stands out from the pack is the main event. Johnny Gargano finally became the NXT champion when he beat Adam Cole in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match. Johnny Wrestling is now on top of the world and he even celebrated the moment with his best friend Tommaso Ciampa, who came back to congratulate him.
NXT always delivers and Takeover: New York is indeed no different. It’s yet another historic night for the black and gold brand, just as fans have come to expect. NXT remains the talk of the pro wrestling world and that will likely not end any time soon.
