WWE Reportedly Considering A “Queen Of The Ring” Tournament In 2019

According to a report by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is currently considering a Queen Of The Ring tournament for some point in 2019.

The popular King Of The Ring tournament which took place from 1985-2002, and then again in 2008, 2010 and a WWE Network special in 2015 is one that wrestling fans have been urging the company to bring back for some time now, and a Queen Of The Ring would be a nice spin on the idea.

Below is what Dave Meltzer had to say on the rumor:

“An idea being talked about for 2019 would be a Queen of the Ring tournament with the main roster women. At this point it’s just an idea thrown around but they are looking for ideas for a second all women’s PPV show next year. With how well the first one was received, one would think they’d want to do at least one a year.”

It is clear from the report that this idea is far from being official, but it is interesting that WWE is at least considering adding another event, especially one for the women of WWE.

Of course, this year WWE hosted two other all-female events in Evolution and the Mae Young Classic, although neither of them has been confirmed to return in 2019, which means that a Queen Of The Ring could potentially replace one.
