Ronda Rousey’s WrestleMania debut this past Sunday has been met with rave reviews, and we noted shortly after the debut that Vince McMahon currently feels Rousey and Brock Lesnar are two of WWE’s biggest attractions.
While Rousey’s short term plans in WWE remain unknown, with the former UFC Champion potentially continuing her feud with Stephanie McMahon before she moves onto her next opponent, WWE might already be considering longterm plans for Rousey heading into WrestleMania 35 next year.
According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE has had very early discussions about Ronda Rousey potentially headlining WrestleMania 35 next year at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. If Rousey does indeed end up headlining the event, the bout will be historic, and mark the first time female wrestlers have ever main evented a WrestleMania PPV.
“This is real big,” said Meltzer. “It’s big enough to where they’re already talking about Ronda Rousey in the main event of next year’s WrestleMania. That’s how big it is,” Meltzer added.

As for Rousey’s opponent, Meltzer said the current plan would be Charlotte Flair, as WWE has positioned Flair to be the pinnacle of the WWE Women’s Division, having successfully conquered Asuka’s storied winning streak in WWE, which is the longest win streak in company history.
We noted yesterday, also via Wrestling Observer Radio, that initial plans in WWE called for Asuka to defeat Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania, and while an early creative idea was to book an “armbar vs armbar” feud between Rousey and Asuka, WWE shifted away from that idea heading into WrestleMania.
