It’s only been two weeks since John Cena jumped from SmackDown to Raw, and the ratings for the blue brand have already taken a significant hit due to the former 16-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion’s departure.
This past Tuesday’s SmackDown did the lowest number since Cena’s last hiatus, and on Thursday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained why this isn’t a coincidence.
“Actually, the last time SmackDown had a rating this low is when John Cena was on his last hiatus, and this is the first week where people finally realized that John Cena is on Raw and he’s not gonna be back on SmackDown. I don’t think that’s coincidental. I think that John Cena is a ratings mover. It’s probably helping Raw right now that John Cena’s there.”
