Impact World Champion Josh Alexander will officially relinquish the title on next Thursday's Impact on AXS TV.
It was revealed last week that Alexander had suffered a torn triceps, putting him out of action for a considerable amount of time.
The title will be put up for grabs at next month's Rebellion pay-per-view between no. 1 contender Steve Maclin and NJPW star KUSHIDA.
Also announced for next week's show is the promotional in-ring debut of Jody Threat who was announced as joining the women's division last week.
A frequent indie wrestler, Threat made her AEW debut last year and had a notable match with Athena that got publicity due to the level of physicality.

The new additions join the previously announced trios bout featuring Tommy Dreamer, Yuya Uemura and former NHL player Darren McCarty vs. Bully Ray and The Good Hands (John Skyler and Jason Hotch).
