“I take great pride in calling our town ‘Titletown, CT.’ The hard work put in by all athletes and coaches, as well as the support of their parents has produced a record-setting year here for GHS. I salute them all and wish them continued success in the years to come. I also want to give a special mention to our crew team, made up of athletes from various town schools, which won a national title,” Camillo told Patch. “I am a firm believer in the power of sports to help build character, compassion, and camaraderie.”
Greenwich Board of Education Chair Joe Kelly, who is a former rugby coach at GHS, spoke proudly about all the accomplishments of GHS sports teams this year.
“We at the Board of Education are so tremendously proud of all our student-athletes and their amazing accomplishments this year. It takes an immense amount of effort to be a champion, and these athletes have proven themselves to be the best of the best both on and off the field,” said Kelly, whose wife, Jill Tighe Kelly is sponsoring the parade in conjunction with Sotheby’s Realty.
“This Sunday’s parade is going to be an incredible event and a well-deserved acknowledgment of the triumph of our students.”
