PLAINFIELD, IL — Tap House Grill shuttered its doors on Lockport Street as of Monday, Plainfield’s mayor confirmed.
As of Monday afternoon, Tap House, which has six other locations across the Chicago area, still listed the Plainfield eatery on its website as “now open” and “newly renovated,” despite the closing. The Facebook page linked on the website, however, appears to have been removed.
The Plainfield Tap House location opened in 2011.

“Everyone has been a little caught by surprise,” Mayor John Argoudelis told Patch. “I do know their windows are all papered up, and it’s closed. It appears they have closed, looks like for good, because they remodeled recently, so they’re not closed for remodeling.”
Tap House Grill underwent renovations in 2022, unveiling a new central bar.

“It’s unfortunate to have a restaurant not make it,” Argoudelis said.
Going forward, video gaming could be a “big assist” to small businesses like the Tap House Grill, Argoudelis said. He expects an ordinance to come before the Village Board in February.
More than three years ago, Tap House owner and general manager Santino Patragas spoke to Patch about the COVID-related indoor dining ban. After indoor dining was again suspended in August 2020, he told Patch, “The first three months just about buried us and this one seems to be the nail in the coffin.”
Patch was unable to reach Patragas at the time of publication.
