DARIEN, IL – A restaurant that opened in December 2022 in Darien is closing, it announced Friday.
La Panza Latin American Grill has been at 7516 Cass Ave., Suite 25B, at Brookhaven Plaza.
In a Facebook post, the owners, Galo and Tatiana Macias, said Al Manal Inc. has agreed to take over La Panza’s space. Al Manal is a catering business focused on Syrian food, the owners told Patch.

The owners said they will transition from a physical store to a catering-only business.
“The decision was not made lightly, as we understand the impact it may have on our loyal patrons and the community,” the owners said on Facebook. “However, we believe that focusing our efforts on catering services will allow us to maintain the high standards of quality and authenticity that La Panza is known for. Also, as a family-owned business, we have decided to prioritize some more time with our kids and loved ones.”

They said their catering will continue to offer the same Latin American flavors that customers have come to expect. They said they would deliver directly to homes, offices or event venues.
