RivCo's 'American Idol' Songbird Being Celebrated At Concert

INDIO, CA — The city of Indio is hosting a send-off concert and fundraiser next weekend for “American Idol” contestant Abi Carter.

“We are incredibly proud of Abi’s accomplishments and thrilled to show our unwavering support as she represents the city of Indio on the national stage,” Mayor Lupe Ramos Amith said in a statement.

In a February episode of “American Idol,” the 21-year-old Indio songbird sat at a piano and put her own spin on “What Was I Made For?” by Billie Eilish.

One week later as Abi performed in Palm Springs, the show’s judges surprised her by upgrading her golden ticket to platinum, meaning she advances in the “American Idol” competition.

For fans who want to wish Carter good luck, the free Indio send-off concert begins at 6 p.m. March 23 at Towne Street and Bliss Avenue, city officials said. Carter’s debut performance of her first single will feature food trucks and community spirit. Residents were encouraged to pre-save her single, which is set to be released March 29, at bit.ly/abicarter.

According to a statement from the city, a 5 p.m. exclusive VIP meet-and-greet before the show will feature limited-edition merchandise. It will take place at Little Street Music Hall, 82707 Miles Ave. Tickets for the VIP event were available for $100 at eventbrite.com.
