WALLINGFORD, CT — Organizers are making final preparations for the Wallingford Community Dinners, Inc.’s annual Easter dinner this weekend.
The free meal event will take place from 12 noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 31 at 23 South Main St. in Wallingford.
The dinners are available to “those in need and anyone looking to spend the holiday with friends from the community,” according to organizers.

Pre-ordered meals will also be delivered to the homebound. The meals need to be ordered by Friday for deliveries to be organized.
The community dinners have been taking place for more than 40 years, according to Wallingford Community Dinners, Inc. President Kathy Wallace. The Easter dinner returned as an in-person event last year after being put on hold by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Wallingford Community Dinners, Inc. also sponsors annual dinners at Thanksgiving and Christmas, according to Wallace.
Wallace said it takes “a lot of planning, teamwork and lots of volunteers,” to put on these events.
“It takes between 75 and 100 volunteers to make this happen,” Wallace told Patch.
The work it takes is well worth it, according to Wallace.
“It makes me feel great knowing that I am helping those in need,” Wallace said. “For the community, I think we are providing a valuable service for those in need. In need, in our terms, can be those in financial need, the homebound, as well as those that would like some company on the holidays.”
The meals are available to those in need in the Wallingford and surrounding communities.
Wallingford Community Dinners, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that “relies on donations and grants to function,” according to Wallace.
“We are happy to get donations of any amount,” Wallace said.
