It was the camp’s 28th year.

The highlight of the day Thursday was an exhibition match between Nicholas “Tiny” Zeras and Chrigus Boezeman in the Thunderdome for the 18th time at Concord High School. Zeras, who teaches physical education at the Broken Ground Elementary School, and Boezeman, who worked in the district previously but is now the principal of the Merrimack Middle School, are former Crimson Tide wrestlers and staffers at the camp. Before Thursday’s match, Zeras had won the bout 15 times.

Both wrestlers were evenly matched for the three periods, with many of the elementary students screaming, “Tiny! Tiny!” during the bout. They both racked up points through two periods, and at the end of the second, Boezeman appeared to have pinned Zeras, for the win, right at the buzzer. The referee withdrew the pin, and they battled in the third period and, at one point, crashed into a table full of water and cups.

The match went to the very end, with Zeras eking out his 16th win over a disappointed Boezeman, 21 to 19, with a takedown with 10 seconds left.
