NORRISTOWN, PA — President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign has opened two new offices in Montgomery County, as the 2024 race intensifies and Democrats place increased focus on blue strongholds in the densely populated suburbs of Pennsylvania’s major metropolitan areas.
The campaign offices are in Norristown and Lansdale, a spokesperson for the Biden campaign confirmed to Patch. There are a total of 12 new offices in Pennsylvania, for a total of 36 statewide.
The move comes after the President’s weekend visit to the state and a controversially choreographed radio appearance on a Philadelphia station, and as he continues to lose ground to former President Donald Trump in the polls.

The new offices “(leverage) the grassroots enthusiasm of President Biden’s weekend blitz through the Commonwealth, where he engaged more than 1,200 Pennsylvanians around the stakes of the 2024 election,” the spokesperson said.

Biden trails Trump by 4.8 points nationally and 5.3 points in Pennsylvania, according to an aggregate of recent polling nationwide by Real Clear Politics. Biden’s deficit in the Keystone State is currently larger than it’s ever been, counting both the 2020 and 2024 campaigns.
The new offices are also a noteworthy reflection of the Biden team’s efforts to remain in the race, as the President has faced a barrage of calls from leaders within his own party to step aside and let someone younger run.
Montgomery County is traditionally a heavily Democratic county, and the large municipalities of Norristown and Lansdale are traditionally even darker blue than the rest of the county. The Biden campaign’s decision to focus on these areas could simply be a matter of regional leadership and availability, but it could also be a reflection of their strategy to build out support and register new voters from a strong base.
The campaign did not elaborate on exactly what led them to choose those specific locations.
Trump does not have an office in Montgomery County, though he did open one in Plymouth Meeting in 2020, and he does have an operational center in Philadelphia this year.
