SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – The township has earmarked the former Princeton Nurseries site for redevelopment.
During the July 17 council meeting, an ordinance was introduced to adopt the redevelopment plan for the area along Mapleton Road, Ridge Road and Route 1.
The property, identified as Block 99, Lots 3.213, 8.041, and 14.04, is around 162.3 acres and is surrounded by commercial properties and housing.

The plan calls for three separate districts to be established on the site with different uses.
District A will be for offices and hotels, District B for offices, hotels, retail and commercial uses, and District C for offices, research, and life science facilities.

Many residents from Kingston expressed concern over the tree removal from the site. Residents said they would like the redevelopment plan to keep South Brunswick as green as possible.
A second reading and final passage of the ordinance is scheduled for Aug. 7.
