Aldridge explains why Liverpool need three or four signings

John Aldridge thinks Liverpool will need “three or four signings” to challenge on all fronts next season.

The Reds are having a brilliant start to the season in the league as they sit top of the table with only second-placed Manchester City beating them in the Premier League this season.

However, Jurgen Klopp’s side were knocked out of the FA Cup against Wolves on Monday night and are now out of both domestic cup competitions, much to the delight of some fans.

And Aldridge reckons Liverpool are still a few signings away from being able to compete in all competitions.

“I am bothered about going out because I wanted to see Liverpool win the FA Cup,” Aldridge wrote in the Liverpool Echo.

“You don’t want to have all your eggs in one basket. Look at Man City and Spurs, they are still competing on four fronts. Why shouldn’t we?

“Monday night proved that the squad isn’t as strong as we thought it was.

“Klopp will know that for us to challenge on all fronts next season he’s going to need more depth.

“He needs another three or four players. A really good striker is a necessity because I don’t think we’ve got enough firepower as back up.”
