BARCA DREAMING OF RASHFORD
Barcelona have a dream. An ‘impossible dream’ that has them screaming Marcus Rashford’s name in the dead of night.
According to Mundo Deportivo, The Manchester United striker is high on the list of Barca’s targets for the summer, but the Catalans aren’t daft. They see ‘a very complicated signing’ and they acknowledge that the 20-year-old is ‘non-transferable’.
Indeed. Ed Woodward wouldn’t dare sell Rashford, even for a fee in excess of £100million. Reports yesterday acknowledged that the board are aware of the fans ‘revolting’ should they cash in on their academy graduate.
Indeed, United are trying to pin Rashford down to a new six-year deal and The Mirror claimed a breakthrough has been made as the two parties creep towards an agreement.
PSG TO TEMPT GUNNERS OVER GUENDOUZI
Unai Emery has heard a whisper that PSG want to spend £60million on Matteo Guendouzi.
“I don’t want this,” he said as well as some other stuff. But Emery doesn’t make the final decision and given the Arsenal boss is only likely to have £40-45million to spend this summer, the board could see the French teenager, who arrived last year for only £7million, as an easy way to swell their transfer coffers. Especially if they don’t manage to shift Mesut Ozil.
GODIN SET TO JOIN INTER
After giving Manchester United the runaround last summer, it seems Diego Godin did not sign that new Atletico Madrid contract after all. Indeed, it seems the 33-year-old is ‘very close’ to announcing his Rojiblancos exit.
Godin is closing on a move to Inter Milan ahead of next season, where he could replace Milan Skriniar.
Or not. The Slovakian defender, another United target, is said to be similarly close to signing a new deal at the San Siro.
No matter, United are said to have prioritised Kalidou Koulibaly this summer, though it was thought they had competition from Juventus. Koulibaly’s agent doesn’t reckon that’s likely.
AND THE REST
Leicester could replace Claude Puel with Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez… Jan Oblak is set to sign a new contract with Atletico Madrid… Barcelona are still tracking Lille;s Nicolas Pepe… Stoke looking at the feasibility of sacking Saido Berahino after the striker was arrested for drink-driving.
