Terry urges Sarri to put faith in two Chelsea players

Maurizio Sarri should put his trust in Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ruben Loftus-Cheek for the remainder of the season, according to Chelsea legend John Terry.

The Italian has come under fire for a number of poor performances in recent weeks but Chelsea produced a much better display as they lost 4-3 on penalties to Manchester City in the League Cup final on Sunday.

Hudson-Odoi has been linked heavily with a potential move to Bayern Munich with the German champions reportedly putting in several bids for him in the January transfer window, while Loftus-Cheek – who played for England at the World Cup – has been unable to get a regular place in Sarri’s midfield.

And Terry reckons now is the time for Sarri to put faith in the duo for the remainder of the Premier League campaign.

“Chelsea can move forward,” Terry told Chelsea’s official website.

“They’re a great side and individually they have brilliance in the team. That’s throughout the whole side.

“We can talk about the two centre-halves being incredible today [against Manchester City].

“You look at the boys in front of them; Kante, Barkley, the three players up front. It’s a great team to build around. Go and build upon it.

“They’ve found it difficult this year because Man City have been excellent, Liverpool have been superb as well.

“But we’ve got people like Hudson-Odoi and it’s important to keep him.

“Ruben Loftus-Cheek, is he ready? Let’s find out.

“If we’re not going to win the league then let’s give him a chance in the league. Let’s blood the younger players and see what they’ve got.”
