Somit alleged that his brother went downstairs to receive some other friend and while coming back to the room, the owner didn’t allow him to enter hotel and got physical with him.

“During the altercation he pulled my brother’s ear ring and it started to bleed badly,” he post says.

Somit further added that after he subdued to owner and separated his brother and tried to call police, four men in two bikes came and then the owner, hotel staff and those four beat them up mercilessly leaving them seriously injured. The other guest intervened later.

“None of the other guests, but us were targeted. I think it’s because we looked different and they called us bhotias- slang used for people who look different,” said Somit. Somit works as the Chief  Technical Officer (CTO) at Smartivity, whereas his brother, Divesh is a JRF at Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), Dehradun.

The victim also alleged that police didn’t help them and the CCTV footage has also been removed as hotel owner claimed that CCTV  cameras had not been functioning for the last seven days.

IndiaTimes also spoke to owner of the hotel who identified himself as Kundan Singh. He refuted all charges levelled against him and instead filed an FIR against the victims of creating ruckus at hotel.

“Those two with others created ruckus at the hotels and also beat up the receptionist for not providing them glasses to drink. We requested them not to create ruckus since other families were also staying at the hotel. They also fought among themselves in which they received those injuries. Neither me nor any other staff took up fight with them,” said Kundan Singh.

He, however, did not tell why did he not inform the police after seeing the youths fighting.
