From QLED Panel To Custom Chip: What We Know About OnePlus TV’s Picture And Sound Quality

Ever since the logo reveal, all eyes have been on the OnePlus forum expecting more news on their Smart TV. And then it happened! In an open letter to its users, OnePlus Founder Pete Lau announced everything that we’ve been waiting for – the specs, the design and the end goal.

In a long post, Pete Lau revealed that the OnePlus TV will feature the Android operation system. It was a means to end the decision to stay abreast of their founding principles of fast and smooth. The operating system offers features like the Play Store and Google Assistant among others. The Android OS also makes it possible to connect your smartphone to your Smart TV effortlessly.

Focus On Picture Quality

From rounded screens to flat screens, the evolution of the television has been significant. Along with the sizes, the only other thing that has changed is our ever-growing standard of great picture quality. We want the best viewing experience and OnePlus wants to offer just that – the OnePlus TV is equipped with a customized QLED panel. For those of you not sure what this means, here it goes – the Q refers to the quantum dots that are tiny semiconductor particles that are less than 10 nanometers. When added to an LED TV, it helps to project richer and more vivid colours compared to the regular LCD.

With the ever-growing popularity of OnePlus smartphones, it’s safe to say that their QLED displays are a big success with the users. What really sets its picture quality apart besides the QLED is its dedicated processor called Gamma Color Magic chipset. It is dedicated to picture optimization to guarantee the best possible picture quality. It offers super-resolution, motion compensation and de-contour that improves individual shades of colours on screen.
