Law enforcement can be bizarre and hilarious at times. This is especially true if those on the receiving end don’t know for what they have been punished or even worse when they don’t even know that they have been punished.
Case in point – an incident in Telangana where two goats were ‘arrested’ for eating some saplings. The incident was reported from Huzurabad town of Telangana on Tuesday.
According to Save The Trees, an NGO, some 250 saplings planted by them as part of a plantation drive were eaten by some animals over the past few days. And on Tuesday they caught the two goats while they were gazing on the newly planted saplings and handed them over to the police.
According to Save The Trees, they had planted over 950 saplings in various locations, out of which nearly 250 have been eaten by the animals.

The two goats were released from Police custody after their owner Dornakonda Rajaiah was summoned.
He was slapped a fine of Rs 1,000 and was warned against letting his goats graze on the outside.
While it might sound bizarre, this is not the first time goat or other animals have been arrested in the country.
In February 2016, the police in Chhattisgarh had arrested a goat on charges of trespassing into a Judge’s garden. Police said the goat, whose name is ‘Babil’ was a repeat offender and booked it for trespassing, grazing in the garden and eating plants and vegetables.
In another case, in August 2015, officers at Rajura police station in Maharashtra arrested a parrot on the complaint of an 85-year-old who accused her step-son of teaching his pet parrot ‘Hariyal’ abuses that it used to hurl on her whenever she passed by his house.
