All the victims were civilians including traders and customers who had come to the market which was one of the few which was open in the city.
All those injured in the blast were admitted to a hospital, where one of them succumbed to the injuries. The condition of another injured also is said to be critical.
Last week in a similar incident, nineteen people were left injured after terrorists hurled a grenade in north Kashmir’s Sopore town.
Don’t Miss
Earlier, six security personnel were injured when terrorists threw a grenade at a CRPF team that was inspecting vehicles at a checkpoint in Srinagar.
Monday’s attack comes at a time when the Indian security forces are on high alert over a possible spike in violence in the valley following the relaxation of restriction which has been in place since August. In recent weeks the terrorists have targeted non-Kashmiris in the valley who were there as laborers or for apple trade.
