The Stranger Things Kids Performed a Motown Medley and It Might Be More Entertaining Than Netflix

Who knew the Stranger Things kids were in a Motown group with James Corden before breaking big?

Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, and Noah Schnapp joined the host of The Late Late Show on Wednesday night for a Behind the Music-style documentary sketch about their forgotten group, The Upside Downs. Of course, as things often do on The Late Late Show, it ended with an epic musical medley of some classic hits, like “I’ll Be There” from The Four Tops, “My Girl” from The Temptations, and “I Want You Back” from The Jackson 5.

In the preceding sketch, the gang explained how they formed the band in school together. “Some people thought it was weird that James hung out with us because he’s an adult, but we actually went to school with him,” Wolfhard said. “You know, he was held back a couple of years, but we were in the same grade.”

The group disbanded, though, when all but Corden landed roles in Stranger Things—probably because he showed up to the audition dressed as Eleven. “That band was still the most creatively fulfilling thing I’ve ever been a part of,” McLaughin said.
