Apart from being really good at what he does, the Chairman of Mahindra Group – Anand Mahindra – is quite famous on Twitter, for encouraging talent wherever he sees it. From praising Karnataka Farmer’s Tree-Bike to investing in Idli Amma’s business he has done it all!
This time he’s impressed by the story of a 19-year-old son of a Gujarat-based businessman. Rakesh Thakkar’s son, Dwarkesh Thakkar went missing in October, until he was reportedly found washing dishes in Shimla, in November. According to a report in the Times Of India, Dwarkesh allegedly ran away from home to prove his identity to the world.

The 19-year-old was a student of an engineering college in Vasad, Gujarat and he left home on October 14, because he did not like his college or studies. After a month of his departure, neither the cops nor his parents could trace him.
The case was becoming a hopeless one, forcing the police to shut it, when he approached a hotel manager for a job and the manager identified him. After this, the police nabbed him and his parents flew down to take custody of their son.

The boy’s story impressed Mahindra so much, that he offered Dwarkesh an internship, in his company. He took to Twitter and wrote, ‘I admire this young man…he wanted to strike out on his own’. ‘He may just seem like an eccentric runaway but he could also be tomorrow’s successful, independent entrepreneur’, he added.
Here’s the tweet:
Reacting to the offer made by Mahindra, Dwarkesh told the Times Of India, that though his future is still undecided, the internship is a “great opportunity” and he would “definitely take it.” Reportedly, when Rakesh Thakkar heard about it, he too was excited to know that his son had received an offer from Mahindra.
Looks like where there is a will, there is a way indeed!
