Women Script History In 2019, Aparna Kumar Becomes First Female IPS DIG To Reach South Pole

Women are breaking glass ceilings each and every day to emerge victorious in different fields. This year we will see Lt Bhavana Kasturi leading an all-male army contingent (ASC contingent) for the first time at Army Day (celebrated on January 15 every year) as well as Republic Day.

Captain Shikha Surabhi will script history on Republic Day by becoming the first woman to be a part of the Army Daredevils team which have made many world records with their smooth stunts and efficient coordination.

Now, a female IPS DIG and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Aparna Kumar has become the first lady officer to successfully complete the South Pole Expedition. Despite carrying heavy gear weighing almost 35 kilograms, she covered 111 kilometres by walking on snow.
