Tania Shergill, a fourth-generation Army officer, today shattered a glass ceiling by becoming the first woman officer to lead an all-men contingent at the Army Parade held on January 15 in New Delhi. Captain Tania Sher Gill from the Corp of Signals was the parade adjutant.

Nirbhaya Convicts Will Not Be Hanged On January 22
While the nation awaits the execution Nirbhaya gangrape convicts, the Delhi government told the high court court that execution of the death row convicts in the Nirbhaya gangrape and murder case will not take place on January 22 as a mercy plea has been filed by one of them. The preparations for the death sentence to be carried out are in full swing. The Tihar Jail also carried out a dummy hanging two days ago.

DSP Davinder Singh Stripped Of Sher-e-Kashmir Medal
The Jammu and Kashmir administration has “forfeited” the Sher-e-Kashmir Police Medal for Gallantry awarded to Deputy Superintendent of Police Davinder Singh, who has been arrested for helping terrorists travel out of JK.

In a tragic incident, eight coaches of Mumbai- Bhubaneswar Lokmanya Tilak Express derailed near Cuttack in Odisha on Thursday morning after the train hit a goods train, leaving 25 passengers injured, Railway officials said.
The mishap took place around 7 am after the 12879 LTT Superfast Express hit the guard van of the goods train at a place between Salagaon and Nergundi stations, causing derailment of eight coaches of the passenger train, East Coast Railway (ECoR) Spokesperson J P Mishra said. Read More
