Juncker congratulates Johnson on becoming PM (a day early)
Commission chief sends letter to new Conservative leader.
EU officials often complain about the U.K. not understanding how the bloc works. The roles were reversed on Tuesday when Jean-Claude Juncker congratulated Boris Johnson on becoming prime minister a day early.
The outgoing European Commission president tweeted a letter he sent to Johnson offering his “warmest congratulations on your appointment as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.” That’s a touch premature as Johnson was only elected leader of the Conservative Party on Tuesday. He won’t become prime minister until Wednesday after meeting the queen.
