Less than a week after he was arrested for aggravated DWI, possession of an open container, driving without proof of insurance, and a firearm charge, UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones reached a plea deal.
MMA Fighting reported the 32-year-old pled guilty to the DWI charge and got four days of house arrest, a year of probation, 48 hours of community service, and a $500 fine. He also has to complete a 90-day drug treatment outpatient program and install an ignition interlock (breathalyzer) device in his car. He also may need to wear an ankle monitor during his four days.

The weapons charge, open container, and insurance charges were all dropped as part of the deal. He was set to appear in court on April 8th.
Jones was arrested Thursday morning in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and due to the coronavirus pandemic, both sides wanted to reach a deal quickly.
This was just the latest run in Jones has had through local authorities which includes a 2012 DUI charge, a 2015 incident where he fled the scene of an accident that injured a pregnant woman. and a late 2019 disorderly conduct charge.
Jones expressed disappointment in a statement to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani Tuesday and accepted full responsibility:
This is Jon Jones’ first statement since last week’s arrest.
“… I accept full responsibility for my actions and I know that I have some personal work to do to which involves the unhealthy relationship I have with alcohol. …”
