Ronda Rousey to wrestle on WWE Raw next week

For the second time in her career, Ronda Rousey is set to wrestle on an episode of Raw.

It was announced tonight that Rousey & Natalya will be teaming against Alexa Bliss & Alicia Fox on next week’s show. Rousey defeated Bliss to win the Raw Women’s Championship at SummerSlam and will be defending the title against her in a rematch at Hell in a Cell on September 16.

Rousey’s only other match on Raw was against Fox. She defeated Fox on the August 6 episode as part of the build to SummerSlam.

On tonight’s show, Rousey accompanied Natalya for a match against Bliss (who had Fox and Mickie James in her corner). Bliss submitted Natalya with an armbar, then Rousey got in the ring after the match and Bliss let go of the submission. Bliss tried to attack Rousey as she was checking on Natalya, Rousey initially fought off Bliss and Fox, and Bliss attacked Rousey from behind and threw her into the ring steps. Bliss tried to continue the attack, but Rousey fought back while selling.

Rousey later took part in a backstage segment with Nikki & Brie Bella, with the story being that Natalya wasn’t feeling well following her match and left the room after The Bellas came in. The Bellas offered to be Rousey’s training partners, but Rousey said Natalya has been fantastic in that role. Nikki then said they’d help Rousey if she needs advice with things like running companies, writing a book, and fashion. Rousey told her that she’d definitely take them up on it.

The segment appeared to be teasing Rousey’s match for Evolution. Dave Meltzer reported last month that Rousey vs. Nikki was the working idea for the pay-per-view. Rousey & The Bellas vs. Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan & Sarah Logan is also scheduled for Super Show-Down in Melbourne, Australia on October 6.
