Kurds watch their homes burn from afar as picture of ‘ethnic cleansing’ emerges

The Syrian rebel fighter shouted “kill the pigs, kill the infidels,” as he went door-to-door searching for the homes of Kurds who had fled the newly captured town of Ras al-Ayn.

The man wearing camouflage and khaki spray-painted graffiti to mark which belonged to a Kurd, which to a Christian and which to a Muslim Arab.

He would burn down those belonging to the first group, he says, loot those from the second and leave untouched those from the third.  

“Look at this guy here, he’s an Arab from my neighbourhood pointing out to the fighters which of the houses are ours,” Bilal Sheikhmos, 40, a Kurdish former resident now displaced in a refugee camp said as he watched the scene play out on video…
